ILTA is arguably the coolest event in legal technology that takes place on an annual basis. For all of us "legal-tech fanatics," this is the place to be.
By the looks of things, this year won't disappoint. ILTA is projecting to beat all past attendance records (3000 attendees expected and 250 vendor companies expected). Not bad, not bad at all.
There are a wealth of networking opportunities for you to take advantage of at ILTA. With over 200 educational sessions, virtually every aspect of your firm's operations are covered, from Information Management to Operations Management, Security, Applications and much more. And don't forget the keynotes, which promise insightful and thought-provoking discussion from our industry leaders.
ILTA has already comprised a list of useful tips to help you have a successful trip, however we'd like to dive a little bit deeper into the networking piece. The following are tips for successful networking at ILTA:
#1: Stay focused on who you'd like to meet.
With so many sessions being offered, you need to keep focused on what you want to get out of your ILTA attendance, as well as which types of legal professionals you would like to connect with. Use the conference mobile App to keep tabs on what is going on, where and how to connect with your target audience.
#2: Remember that there are many different ways to network.
There is no one-size-fits-all approach to networking. Consider the environment in which you feel most comfortable and the communities of interest to you: litigation, finance, communication, SharePoint, trainers, etc.
#3: Social media is your networking assistant.
While many people think about social media as a replacement for face-to-face communication, that isn't how it is intended. In fact, it is best when used as a tool to facilitate in-person interaction and an industry event like ILTA is the perfect example. Monitor the hashtage #ILTA14 and follow @ILTAConf on twitter to meet new people and find the hot presentations and/or places to be.
#4: Have fun!
Just because you are working, doesn't mean that you can't have fun too. There are several recreational activities planned for this year (join us for a few Asanas, anyone?) Activities like yoga, golf and running create an opportunity for you to connect and bond with your peers in an informal setting. Find the right activity here.
#5: Stop by and say hi.
Check out the vendors in the Exhibit Hall, especially Bellefield! :-) We are a fun group and we can't wait to chat with you about the future of legal technology at this year's conference.
