Recently, I was interviewed by Monica Bay for an article in LegalTech news about my experience as a female entrepreneur. In preparation for the interview, I had the opportunity to reflect on my life, how it has led me on this path, and what I’ve learned along the way.
Throughout my career (thus far!), I’ve learned many lessons. To be honest, startup entrepreneurship is about recycling lessons into success. All of the things you hear about “failing fast” are absolutely true.
As I look back, there are key lessons that have shaped my journey as an entrepreneur:
- Simply put, success is only possible through adequate preparation and teamwork. Luck is created through hard work.
- In the end, consistency wins. My favorite quote, which I referenced in the article Aristotle’s “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”
- Surround yourself with great mentors. Life is a continuous improvement, and one cannot do it alone.
- As cliche as it might sound, believe in yourself. As I explained in the interview, there have been many opportunities to doubt myself throughout my career, but I found that when I was able to summon the confidence to keep moving forward, the outcome was better than I could have imagined.
